Unidea - UniCredit Foundation, is a private foundation set up by UniCredito Italiano in order to plan and support initiatives in the field of development solidarity and co-operation. Unidea proposes intervening in the social and humanitarian sphere, by operating in the sectors of medical, educational and environmental aid. In particular, the Foundation directs its actions in developing countries and those with economies in a period of transition.
The Foundation has the following objectives:
- To intervene in situations of great imbalance and inequality which arise in an age of rapid globalisation, to promote and sustain co-operation and humanitarian aid projects which go beyond the emergency situation and look towards the re-building of structures which are essential for community development and which at the same time will contribute to the growth of a self-sufficient and responsible civilian society.
- In addition to humanitarian interventions, to carry out analysis and reflection which result in a profound knowledge of the contexts of the work operations; this cultural and communicative support can also be of use to other organisations and operators working in the fields of co-operation, voluntary and no-profit work.
- To enhance and spread the culture of no-profit, donation and voluntary work, in particular by offering employees of the UniCredito Italiano Group the opportunity to put their professional and creative skills at the disposal of the various projects.
The Foundation's intervention consists in creating, managing and supporting projects in these sectors by identifying issues to be addressed, where to intervene and which partners to use for the various initiatives to be carried out.
Unidea favours intervention in the following geographical areas:
- Developing countries which need assistance with their process of human and economic growth
- Countries of Central and South East Europe which will soon be members of the European Union and need support during this transition period.
