Application Instructions
To be admitted to the Summer School on Development 2007Inequality, Growth and Human Development’, applicants must submit the online application AND mail the paper copy of the application form no later than April 15, 2007. The Summer School on Development will enroll 20 female and male students selected from both the developing and the advanced countries.
Please note that applications submitted and mailed after this deadline cannot be considered. The submission date of paper applications is determined by their postmarks for Mail, or equivalent for those sent by courier companies. Please note that Unidea – UniCredit Foundation cannot guarantee that paper applications received 14 calendar days after the deadline will be reviewed in time to be considered for the final selection.

How To Apply

To apply for admission to the Summer School on Development 2007, applicants must complete the following steps:

1. Complete and submit the Summer School on Development 2007 on line application form. Then, print and mail it to the address indicated below together with the supporting documents required. If more space is needed for answers, use a separate sheet of paper.

COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM MUST BE SUBMITTED BOTH ELECTRONICALLY AND IN PAPER COPY BY MAIL. If you do not submit your completed application in both ways, your application cannot be reviewed. Only applicants facing specific problems and whom have been explicitly authorized by Unidea – UniCredit Foundation can apply by submitting only the paper copy of the application form (for any query in regard, please contact summerschool@unicreditfoundation.org). As for your paper applications, please type and print clearly.

2. Submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended at both undergraduate and graduate level. If attending the final semester of your Ph.D. or other graduate program, at the time of application, please send an official transcript and mark sheets for the courses completed to date.

3. Submit one or two letters of recommendation from your supervisor, the director of your university department, senior colleague faculty, recent employers or any of the authoritative person who knows you well. People who write letters of recommendation are supposed to be able to evaluate the quality of your work and research, your academic credentials, and your overall interest/competence in the topic of the Summer School on Development 2007.

4. All applicants whose native language/mother tongue is not English ought to provide some proof of their English proficiency. Results of standard proficiency test (e.g., TOEFLS, IELTS, etc) are preferable, but other types of proof may also be accepted.

5. Prepare and submit a covering letter briefly stating why you would like to take part in the Summer School on Development 2007, describing your background in development economics or in any other related fields, outlining any related work and research experience in this area, indicating why/how you think you would benefit from participating to the Summer School on Development 2007, and including any additional information you think can help the Admission Committee to assess your application.

6. Mail all admission materials (letter of recommendation and covering letter are compulsory) to the following address:

The Admission Committee will evaluate candidates on the basis of the information provided with the application. Candidates selected are those whose applications suggest that they will -- relative to other candidates -- make best use of, and benefit most from the educational opportunity offered by the Summer School on Development 2007.

The candidates selected will receive an e-mail notification of the decisions of the Admission Committee by May 11, 2007. Admissions notification letters will be mailed within two weeks of the decisions of the Admission Committee. To confirm participation to the Summer School on Development 2007, acceptance must be sent to Unidea – UniCredit Foundation secretariat within May 30, 2007. Selected candidates who do not send their acceptance by this date will automatically forfeit their place which will be re-allocated to other applicants.

Housing and travel information and all other necessary enrollment materials are sent to students admitted along with their offer of admission.
