Its mission, expressed through the motto “Technology has no gender,” is to build a technologically equal society. It aims to ensure that women do not remain on the sidelines, but instead become an integral part of the technological future.
Through its activities, Aj Ty v IT breaks down social stereotypes about women in IT, builds a supportive community, and educates girls from grade school to high school, We offer specialized career programs for adult women, and collaborate with IT faculties at universities.
Over twelve years of operation, almost 52,000 girls, women, and teachers from across Slovakia have participated in their workshops, courses, and academies.
The "Skills4Life: Empowering Young Women in IT" programme aims to enhance the competitiveness of at-risk high school girls in underdeveloped districts by providing specialised IT courses and essential soft skills training.
The programme was chosen by UniCredit Foundation through the Call for Education 2023, and targets girls aged 15 to 19 from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds in regions with limited access to IT education.
Implemented in the Banská Bystrica, Košice, and Prešov regions of Slovakia, the programme addresses the educational needs of young women in these less developed areas. "Skills4Life" offers technical IT training and essential soft skills development, preparing students for the job market or higher education. The project also develops a comprehensive guide for IT teachers to promote inclusive teaching methods. To further motivate the girls, the programme collaborates with various Slovak universities, allowing high school students to spend half a day at different IT faculties, providing firsthand experience and boosting their motivation to pursue such studies.
