With joy, 6 months a year, targeting middle school children across the country, grades 5 to 8.

The "CampioMATE - National Team Mathematics Championship" programme, selected by UniCredit Foundation under the UCF Edu-Fund Platform in 2024, aims to improve mathematical skills among secondary school students in Romania. It leverages engagement techniques from video games and sports to spark interest in mathematics, encouraging students to solve mathematical challenges to earn points for themselves and their teams.
The programme targets secondary school students in grades 5 to 8 (ages 11 to 15) from underperforming backgrounds. These students are often lagging in mathematical competencies and need innovative approaches to enhance their learning and social skills.
Implemented across Romania, CampioMATE is hosted on a dedicated digital platform and spans six months annually. It began with a pilot edition in 2022 and has since attracted participants from 700 schools across the country.
CampioMATE includes a qualifying phase to assess students' initial math levels and engagement, followed by team-based competitions in a national championship consisting of five math stages and two special stages. The programme not only enhances mathematical understanding but also fosters life skills such as collaboration, leadership, and project management. Through a network of volunteers, mainly high school students, the programme supports continuous development and motivation for learning, contributing to a comprehensive educational experience.
