The Cultura e Sviluppo Association has been fostering cultural and educational engagement in Alessandria for over twenty years.

Acting as a local hub for non-formal learning, the Association works closely with schools, families, third-sector organisations, and local institutions to promote youth empowerment and community development. It provides training to develop soft and life skills, issuing over 1,100 open badges to date.

Cultura e Sviluppo is also a lead partner in school dropout prevention initiatives, co-designed with schools and focused on personalised support. In the field of guidance, it organises the “Open” Orientation Fair, which helps thousands of students and dozens of schools each year navigate their educational and career choices.
The Association also runs long-standing initiatives such as the “Genitori” (Parents) public event series and the Teachers’ Club, an informal learning and peer-support space for educators, further strengthening its role as a territorial educational hub.

The Association’s model promotes collaboration, lifelong learning, and local impact.
Cultura e Sviluppo connects multiple actors across the educational ecosystem to design integrated responses to the challenges facing young people. Its initiatives address both individual empowerment and systemic issues, from dropout prevention and guidance to parenting and teacher support. The Association’s capacity to facilitate dialogue and coordination between schools and the third sector enables it to generate meaningful, lasting impact on the lives of young people and their communities.

"Insieme per il futuro” is a systemic initiative tackling school dropout through co-designed educational pathways.

Led by Cultura e Sviluppo in partnership with a network of experienced third-sector organisations (Azimut, Semi di Senape, Cambalache, Human Art, Yggdra, Labì, Me.dea, Io Volo), the project is active across Alessandria, Ovada, and Novi.

It aims to build a flexible, scalable model for preventing early school leaving and educational disengagement. Lower and upper secondary schools are involved in co-designing tailored support paths, choosing from a shared catalogue of evolving in-school and out-of-school actions. These are implemented in collaboration with local NGOs, ensuring continuity of care for students - especially those facing socio-economic hardship or emotional vulnerability.

Spanning two academic years, the project is guided by a Scientific Committee of educators and third-sector representatives. The initial phase includes pilot activities and data collection, followed by a second cycle adjusted based on evidence and local feedback. A key feature is the external impact evaluation, carried out by an independent body to provide scientifically sound results and develop a toolkit for national replication.

The project is supported by a collaborative communication and storytelling strategy, created with schools and communities, to share outcomes, spread good practices, and engage new stakeholders in building more inclusive and responsive educational ecosystems.
