Centro Calabrese di Solidarietà (CCS) operates in Italy, in the field of youth hardship and marginalization, through welcoming, caring for and activating social reintegration actions of disadvantaged individuals, such as women victims of violence, drug addicts, alcohol addicts, immigrants, disadvantaged young people and families.

The CCS inspires its educational/therapeutic work on the philosophy of Progetto Uomo and on the assumption that every man is always the bearer of enormous potential.

It therefore places the person in their entirety, their existential needs and their abilities at the center of attention.

The "YEI! - Youth Education Improvement" programme received selection by UniCredit Foundation in the Call for Education 2023. It aims to equip vulnerable students with the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about their future.

The programme targets students aged 12 to 18 at very high risk of dropping out or those who have already left school, including NEETs and individuals with psychological disorders.

It specifically focuses on students from disadvantaged families in southern Italy and the islands (Sicily and Sardinia), where educational disparities are significant. It mobilises local inter-institutional networks, including schools, social services, civil society organisations, and families, to support students.

"YEI!" employs a multidimensional approach, introducing teacher supervision programmes, family well-being interventions, school and career guidance, and summer trial programmes. It emphasises the development of socio-emotional, relational, and cognitive skills to prevent early school leaving. The programme also includes family and community engagement to address the root causes of educational poverty and establish a regional partnership of changemakers in education, aiming to reduce NEET and dropout rates.

One Student at a Time - Interview to Andrea Barbuto

UniCredit Foundation is launching a new series of video clips to share with you all: ‘One student at a time – stories of educational empowerment’. Each episode tells, through the eyes of its protagonists, the story of a student whose life has changed thanks to the support of the organisations the Foundation supports. Each story is special and precious in its own way – underlining how the Foundation's investment in young people is a process that pays off in the long run.
