Founded in April 2020 in Bonn, Germany, Lern-Fair e.V. is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing free, digital learning support to disadvantaged students across Germany.

The organisation was initially launched as "Corona-School" during the Covid-19 pandemic to address learning disruptions caused by school closures.

Lern-Fair aims to ensure equal educational opportunities for all students by offering digital learning initiatives that are accessible and free of bureaucracy.

The organisation focuses on bridging the educational gap for students with learning difficulties and those with limited access to educational resources through online tutoring - connecting students in need of tutoring with volunteer tutors through video catch up on their studies; group courses - offering group courses on various subjects, including math, science, and languages, to help students catch up on their studies; and workshops and projects - providing online workshops and project coaching in collaboration with initiatives.

In 2024, UniCredit Foundation's UCF Edu-Fund Platform led to the selection of "Scaling Digital 1:1 Tutoring for Educational Equity in Germany and beyond".

The programme aims to significantly expand free, easily accessible digital 1:1 tutoring services for disadvantaged students in Germany and internationally. The goal is to improve academic performance, classroom participation, and the likelihood of continuing education.

The programme targets disadvantaged and underserved students across Germany who cannot afford or access traditional tutoring services. By expanding these digital tutoring services, the programme seeks to reach an additional 2,260 students, providing 57,000 hours of tutoring.

Implemented across Germany with plans to expand internationally, including a pilot in Austria in 2027, the programme focuses on areas with significant educational inequalities. It addresses the needs of students in both urban and rural regions.

Using an intuitive app, the programme matches students with volunteer tutors for flexible, digital tutoring sessions. It includes introductory video chats to assess needs, continuous feedback for quality assurance, and specialised Focus Courses on mental health awareness, digital literacy, and advanced topics like AI and programming. The collaborative approach involves partners like Krisenchat and Hacker School, enhancing the educational experience and supporting community engagement.
