Udruženje Zemlja djece u Bosni i Hercegovini promotes the rights and wellbeing of children and students, ensuring access to education, protection and development opportunities, with a particular focus on contexts of vulnerability and social exclusion.

Founded in 1995 in Tuzla, the organisation works to support students and young people at risk of exclusion. It is committed to preventing early school leaving and supporting re-engagement in education through both formal and non-formal learning pathways, mentoring and personalised support. Its activities primarily target children and adolescents affected by poverty, migration and marginalisation, helping to strengthen skills, motivation and continuity in education.

Through a rights-based, person-centred approach, the organisation collaborates with communities and institutions to remove barriers to education and foster inclusive learning environments. In doing so, it supports more equitable development pathways and encourages the active participation of young people in society.

The Future-Ready Skills for Vocational Students in BiH programme aims to prevent early school leaving and strengthen the employability of vocational education students by integrating life, digital and artificial intelligence skills into educational pathways.

Through a structured and progressive approach, it combines needs assessment, skills development and model dissemination. In the initial phase, schools, businesses and key stakeholders jointly analyse labour market needs and identify emerging competences. This is followed by the delivery of learning pathways based on the Life Skills for Students (LS4S) approach, enriched with digital and AI skills, while teachers are supported in adopting participatory, work-oriented methodologies.

The programme engages approximately 700 students and 70 teachers across three cantons in Bosnia and Herzegovina — Tuzla, Bosnian-Podrinje and Una-Sana — strengthening the connection between schools, local communities and the labour market through the direct involvement of companies and local stakeholders.

The initiative contributes to making vocational education more relevant and inclusive, developing a scalable and transferable model that strengthens young people’s skills and supports their transition into employment or further education.
