The “Giro di Prova” initiative, supported by UniCredit Foundation as part of the Filarmonica della Scala Open Rehearsals, has once again demonstrated the power of music as a tangible driver of social inclusion and personal growth

Through the Open Rehearsal, numerous organisations across Milan have benefited from both funding and visibility, that supported the development of educational programmes and pathways towards independence for young people facing vulnerable circumstances.

Among them, Comunità Oklahoma highlighted "how the support received will strengthen key activities, including tailored educational pathways, music workshops and initiatives aimed at developing practical skills such as Italian language learning and financial education. This concrete support translates into real opportunities to build a better future".

However, the value of the initiative goes beyond financial support. Bringing young people to experience La Scala is, as the organisation noted, “a moment of true beauty, destined to remain with them for a lifetime” — a powerful sign of inclusion and closeness that leaves a lasting impact on their personal journeys.

Associazione Akanà also expressed its sincere gratitude for the project’s impact, which has enabled the continuity and quality of its educational programmes for young people. Particularly meaningful was participation in the “Giro di Prova”, during which the association’s choir, together with an artist from Comunità Oklahoma, performed alongside the musicians of the Filarmonica della Scala in the neighborhood where the association is based. The experience was described as “unforgettable”, fostering a strong sense of emotion, pride and belonging to a wider artistic community.

The video shared by the organisers, capturing this very moment, offers a powerful testament to the impact of collaboration between culture and social commitment. Seeing the young participants take centre stage and sit in the audience with their families conveys the initiative’s true essence.

“Giro di Prova” once again stands out as a best practice example of how art, social responsibility and collective engagement can come together to create lasting impact. An initiative that not only supports projects, but generates transformative experiences, strengthening the connection between communities, cultural institutions and third-sector organisations.
