Open Rehearsals of the Filarmonica della Scala: the 16th edition gets underway

Target
Non-profit organisations
Date
26 October 2026

On 24 January 2027, the 16th edition of Prove Aperte della Filarmonica della Scala will begin, a project that transforms music into a tangible source of support for initiatives focused on care, inclusion, tackling educational poverty, and empowering young people facing vulnerability

Supported by UniCredit, UniCredit Foundation and Esselunga, the project continues to demonstrate how music can become a powerful tool for inclusion and community support.

The 2027 edition focuses on the needs of younger generations, supporting projects that tackle educational poverty, promote inclusion, and help children and young people facing social, economic and family challenges.

As a partner of the initiative, UniCredit Foundation contributes to the selection of beneficiary projects and supports organisational costs, helping channel resources towards initiatives that expand educational opportunities and foster the development of the next generation, in line with the Foundation's mission.

Over more than fifteen years, the initiative has raised more than €1.9 million, supported 66 organisations, delivered 79 fundraising events, and engaged nearly 148,000 audience members.

The opening event, taking place on 24 January 2027, will be conducted by Myung-Whun Chung and feature violinist Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, supporting Fondazione Chiara Costanzo ETS and Fondazione Ospedale Niguarda. In agreement with the Municipality of Milan, a portion of tickets will be reserved for people with fewer opportunities to access cultural experiences, as well as for the organisations benefiting from the 2027 edition.

The The other four Open Rehearsals will support:

  • Insieme nelle Terre di mezzo ODV, promoting access to culture and creative expression for children and young people

  • Project for People, working to reduce educational inequalities through learning and community engagement initiatives

  • Bambini senza sbarre, helping preserve family relationships for children with a parent in prison

  • L'Amico Charly, supporting adolescents through educational, cultural and social inclusion activities.

The 2027 edition also marks the return of Giro di Prova, which brings music directly into the communities served by the beneficiary organisations. In the days leading up to each Open Rehearsal, small groups of musicians from the Filarmonica della Scala meet participants involved in the supported projects, offering opportunities for musical discovery, cultural participation and learning. By connecting education, culture and inclusion, the initiative shows how music can foster growth, engagement and a stronger sense of community.
