Promoted by UniCredit Foundation and delivered by Fondazione Don Gino Rigoldi ETS together with a network of local, educational, and academic partners, Uni.ON – Ignite Your Future has reached its third edition with the aim of supporting talented young people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds in their transition from secondary school to university.

The initiative was designed to provide students not only with financial support, but also with a comprehensive pathway that helps them access higher education and pursue academic and professional opportunities in fields with strong employment prospects.

A Comprehensive Pathway Towards University

Uni.ON is aimed at 600 final-year students attending public secondary schools in Lombardy, Campania, Veneto, and Puglia who aspire to pursue university studies in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) or Economics.

The programme begins with a free 100-hour immersive university campus experience, where participants engage with university professors, strengthen their academic preparation, and receive targeted support for both university entrance exams (TOLC) and their high school graduation exams. The programme also includes activities focused on developing the transversal skills that are essential for academic success and future employability.

At the end of the Campus, students take a final assessment. Those who successfully pass receive a Uni.ON Award worth €500.

200 Scholarships to Support University Studies

Among the Campus participants, 200 students (50 from each participating region) are selected to receive a scholarship worth a total of €5,000 to support their three-year undergraduate degree programme.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and performance throughout the programme, recognising students’ commitment, potential, and achievements.

The support extends well beyond financial assistance. Scholarship recipients also benefit from a dedicated academic support programme, including:

  • 30 hours of group sessions in Mathematics and Physics with university lecturers, designed to ease the transition into university studies;

  • Dedicated educational mentoring throughout the first academic year, helping students overcome challenges and successfully navigate their university experience.

Breaking Down Barriers and Expanding Opportunities

Uni.ON pursues three key objectives:

  • Supporting access to STEM and Economics degree programmes, encouraging motivated young people to enrol in fields associated with strong career prospects;

  • Reducing economic and social barriers that can limit access to higher education for talented students;

  • Preventing university dropout, by supporting students during the crucial transition from secondary school to university and throughout their first year of study.

The programme contributes to broader efforts to promote educational equity and social mobility, ensuring that talent and ambition can flourish regardless of a student's starting point.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to students who:

  • Reside in Italy

  • Are enrolled in their final year at a public secondary school in Lombardy, Campania, Veneto, or Puglia

  • Have a 2026 ISEE equal to or below €26,000

  • Achieved an average grade of at least 6.5/10 in both their third and fourth years of secondary school

  • Intend to enrol in a three-year STEM or Economics degree programme.

A Nationwide Partnership Network

The initiative is made possible through the collaboration of universities and educational organisations operating across the four participating regions.

University Partners

  • University of Milan (Lombardy)

  • University of Naples Federico II (Campania)

  • University of Bari Aldo Moro (Puglia)

  • University of Verona (Veneto)

Local Educational Partners

  • Le Nuvole ICC (Campania)

  • Progetto Città Social Cooperative (Puglia)

  • Aribandus Social Cooperative (Veneto)

Building on Proven Results

The first two editions of Uni.ON have already demonstrated the programme’s impact. To date, 314 students have taken part in the university Campus experience, and 170 of them are currently benefiting from the three-year scholarship programme.

The third edition aims to build on these achievements by further strengthening support mechanisms and fostering a growing community of scholars and alumni who can share experiences, opportunities, and best practices.

For hundreds of young people, Uni.ON represents much more than a scholarship. It is an opportunity to unlock their potential, successfully access higher education, and build the foundations for their future.
