Cesta von is a non-profit organisation based in Slovakia, whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty through dedicated efforts in education and employment.

Cesta von has set up programs in poor communities to foster early childhood development, empower the youth, and offer targeted support to the parents.

The mission of the Cesta von association is to help people stuck in poverty to stand on their own feet, get a job and a dignified life.
They fulfil it through programs dedicated to children at an early age, young people and adults.
They develop the potential, knowledge, skills and attitudes of socially dependent people from early childhood to old age so that they can improve their personal, social, spiritual and material resources. The association’s activities include consulting, educational, social and publishing activities, international cooperation and organizing events that help achieve the stated goal.

As part of the 2023 Call for Education, UniCredit Foundation has chosen the "Zebra Program" which aims to promote positive youth development by helping vulnerable young people from impoverished Roma communities in marginalised settlements overcome poverty through mentoring, life skills training, and enhanced access to the job market.

The programme targets Roma students aged 11 to 19 living in three marginalised settlements n Slovakia: Chminianske Jakubovany, Veľká Lomnica, and Kecerovce. These students are at high risk due to their socio-economic background and require extensive support to achieve personal and educational success.

The "Zebra Program" offers daily activities including mentorship by positive adult role models, after-school tutoring, digital skills training, and constructive recreational activities. It actively engages companies for vocational training and collaborates with volunteers for mentoring and tutoring. By fostering links between Roma youth and the Slovak majority, the programme aims to reduce social exclusion, prejudice, and institutional racism. Activities are designed considering the socio-economic background of participants, making clubs a safe space with essential amenities. Roma youth leaders, familiar with the community's challenges, manage the Zebra clubs, working closely with local stakeholders to support the participants' well-being.
