Teach For All is a global network operating in 63 countries, all committed to providing quality education for every child. UniCredit Foundation had just embarked on this inspiring journey of collaboration, and as part of my work, I wanted to fully understand the mission we were supporting.
I stopped at the vision statement: We imagine a world where all children have the education, support, and opportunity to shape a better future for themselves and for all of us. It struck me with its simplicity and power.
Then I looked at the map: at that time Teach For All was active in 61 countries. I scanned it from bottom to top, from left to right. No sign of Moldova. A lump formed in my throat. How could this be? How was it possible that such a program did not exist in Moldova?
During that period, I had several meetings with Andrea Pastorelli, who represented Teach For Italy. I asked him what it would take to bring the program to Moldova, and whether it was even feasible. His answer – and a mix of courage, enthusiasm, and a bit of healthy craziness – set something in motion within me.
Because I deeply believe that every child carries immense potential, even when it is hidden behind difficult home situations, behind cold walls, behind the longing for parents who had to leave to offer them something better.
In 2024, we founded Teach First Moldova. Today, we are preparing our first group of fellows.
And all of this is happening because I was in the right place at the right time, asking the right people how to make it possible.
